Antelope Basecamp’s one-acre campus features ten A-frame cabins arranged around a communal courtyard, along with a shared building currently being restored to house a Dark Sky Resource Library, tea bar, and game room. The intimate scale of the property, combined with its open desert landscape, allows guests to enjoy unobstructed views of the Milky Way directly from their cabin patios.
Antelope Basecamp is deeply committed to conserving the night sky and protecting the nocturnal environment. All exterior lighting on the property uses red light only, meeting DarkSky Lodging standards while preserving human night vision. Interior fixtures are low-lumen and fully shielded, with dimmers installed in shared spaces to minimize light spill. The property underwent a full lighting retrofit during redevelopment, ensuring every fixture aligned with DarkSky International guidelines from the start.
Antelope Basecamp is open year-round and welcomes both overnight guests and small groups seeking guided stargazing experiences. Visitors can enjoy self-guided night-sky viewing, seasonal programming, and access to the developing resource library, with telescopes available for check-out. With its quiet desert setting and commitment to night-sky preservation, Antelope Basecamp offers a welcoming base for experiencing Oregon’s remarkably dark skies.
