About

Bükk is a Hungarian National Park consisting of 43,170 hectares of land in the Bükk Mountains of Northern Hungary, near the city of Miskolc. Mountainous and heavily forested, it is Hungary’s largest national park, situated among the country’s tallest peaks. The Park’s karstic landscape makes it a mecca for spelunkers, and it is home to some ninety species of nesting birds, many endangered. Visitors find a variety of outdoor and cultural activities throughout the Park.

Increasingly, these offerings include experiences that bring visitors close to a dark night sky. The number of stargazing and nocturnal environment events in the Park has steadily increased since the inception of nighttime programming in 2012. People are coming from across Europe to experience the night skies in Bükk, and the Park is meeting this demand with more offerings to casual stargazers and serious amateur astronomers alike.
